Cobra F9: The KING is back, with extra speed

Last year, Cobra Golf pioneered a revolutionary change on their drivers – CNC precision milled faces for consistency both off the shelf, and on the course. It resulted in a more exact face that is 3% thinner and 10% lighter. The year before, it was the introduction to playing smart golf with the Cobra Connect app and the in-built grip.

Over the years, Cobra has led an industry leading engineering team to come up with new technology to further perfect a golf club.

This year is no different, as the Calsbad headquartered brand unleashed their latest latest innovation – the optimization of aerodynamics with low center of gravity. With aerodynamics, the club is usually able to be swung faster but with high center of gravity the spin rate is usually high. Cobra solved the equation by manufacturing a driver that has low center of gravity that gives you ball speed, optimal launch angle, and low spin.

To create this groundbreaking aerodynamic advancement, the engineers at Cobra raised the perimeter skirt, tail and crown. They improved on the design by rounding the leading edges to reduce drag and improve speed and stability. These technologies combined are then dubbed by Cobra – ‘AEROFICIENT’.

Continuing on their innovative advancements, the engineers at Cobra developed golf’s first ultralight carbon wrap crown design that wraps around the body, providing a 12% larger carbon fiber area, and saving 10 grams of weight compared to a regular titanium crown driver. The 360 Aero Technology utilizes lightweight polymer crown trips and titanium sole trips positioned relative to the direction of airflow around the club head, further reducing drag. The PWR Ridges on the head are designed to enhance aerodynamics and add rigidity to the carbon crown structure creating more energy return and more power to the ball to maximize speed and distance.

To help golfers with their spin and launch preference, the King F9 Speedback drivers have the MyFly8 hosels which allows up to 8 loft settings with the ever-present Smart Pad to keep the driver sitting flat, and two weight ports on the sole that fits weights from 2 to 14 grams to further increase or decrease center of gravity.

COBRA’s patented E9 Technology also features a variable thickness face designed with an elliptical pattern Sweet Zone, creating more hot spots farther away from the center to maximize distance on miss-hits. The Dual Roll Technology optimizes top and bottom face curvatures, which are CNC precision milled to precise specifications on every driver, to minimize gear effect that negatively impacts launch and spin on off-center hits.

The KING F9 Speedback comes in 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees with a range of +/-1.5 degrees individually. Additionally, the 10.5 driver is available in a tour length offering at 44.5 inch with two 14 gram weights on its head. Inspired by Cobra ambassador Rickie Fowler’s 43.50” driver, the Tour Length model is designed to deliver maximum accuracy and precision without sacrificing distance.

The KING F9 Speedback also comes in two colorways – Avalanche and Yellow/Black.

The shaft options include Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec Blue 6, Project X HZRDUS Smoke 60, Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec Black 7 and the Fujikura Cobra Speeder Evolution 4.
