Jyoti Randhawa has been arrested in New Delhi for allegedly poaching in the Motipur range, an area that is protected at the Dudhwa Tiger reserve.
According to reports, the 46-year-old and a companion killed a red junglefowl.
The eight-time Asian Tour winner was already on the radar of authorities when his name came up in an investigation by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on the illegal import of firearms from Slovenia by competitive shooters.
In bizarre fashion, the forest official who claims to have intercepted him has alleged that Randhawa had “hinted” he was ready to pay a bribe to be let off, according to reports from The Telegraph India.
