His last bout a vicious TKO against Travis Browne in 2016, Cain Velasquez has been out of the Octagon for way too long.
According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion is set to return in February against Francis Ngannou.
UFC is in serious talks to book Cain Velasquez vs. Francis Ngannou as the main event for UFC Phoenix on Feb. 17, according to multiple sources. The fight isn’t finalized just yet, sources say, but is currently moving in the right direction. https://t.co/ujYDrFevm4

Ngannou, aptly named the Predator, is coming off a 45-second knockout win over Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night 141 in China. This puts the French-Cameroonian back into contention after back-to-back losses against Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis.
The high endurance Velasquez has been fighting a personal bout with pegging injuries through these couple of years and team-mate at AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) Daniel Cormier has stepped up to be the number one pound for pound fighter as well as the holder of both the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight titles in the UFC. Cormier has since also announced that he might retire by March of 2019 before his 40th birthday.
