For photography enthusiasts, this June may be the perfect summer to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience of clicking the shutters.
COMO Hotels and Resorts are launching a ‘Eight-Day Himalayan Photography Expedition’ trip in Bhutan for the first time from 2nd June to 9th June 2019. Mentored by a multi award-winning photographer, Michael Turek, and COMO’s expert, English-speaking guide, participants will venture into Bhutan’s extraordinary mountain ranges, capturing unforgettable moments on film.
Turek will be sharing his techniques and philosophy of shooting on film, encouraging photographers to be fully engaged in the moment and to capture surroundings with deliberation and intention. By slowing down with film, participants will enjoy a more thoughtful and introspective observation of nature and discover a deeper level of cultural understanding with the Bhutanese people that many would not be able to experience in their usual lives. The result of such experience will lead to powerfully-emotional visual illustrations and expressions of their experience in this unique country.
Receiving the privilege of five nights at COMO Uma Paro and two nights at COMO Uma Punakha, participants will get to explore and wander through the kingdom’s heartland as they venture into three distinctly different but important valleys: the bustling capital of Thimphu with its monuments, museums and markets; the tropical Punakha Valley with its magnificent dzongs; and the emerald valley of Paro, with its rice paddies and ancient temples. By engaging with the spirituality of this remote country, as well as the everyday lives of Bhutanese people.
Other highlights include walks along winding rivers to sacred monasteries and temples that cling to sheer cliffs faces as well as spectacular drives through mountain passes. The magic light of Bhutan will come alive on treks along forest trails lined with prayer flags. Treks and scenic drives through the Himalayan mountain range will lead to some of this country’s most sacred and intriguing sites, including the legendary ‘Taktsang ‘Tigers Nest’ monastery – famed for its fragile position on the sheer cliffside of the Paro Valley.
